After slateing Trivium for their track on the Kerrang free cd,I have heard a couple of other songs by them, where they only scream for about 30 seconds ,to be fashionable, and having got that out of the way, they were actualy pretty good. Do you know any other bands where the current fashion for screaming gets in the way of real musical talent.

I'd imagine in most cases it does hide real talent, but that's simply because i don't find the screaming particularly endearing as a feature, and it puts me off music, which, behind it, may well be alright

unfortunately screamo and hardcore are fashionable at the mo, though i wouldnt say the vocals were hiding talent... those bands tend to be terrible throughout.

There are some excellent bands out there with harsh vocals though, but when done properly the vocals themselves are a talent.

Trivium are defo not screamo.

Matts voice is amazing, screaming as well as singing. I know for a fact most ppl who have posted here, think that screaming like that is easy and talentless. I can assure you, its not lol.

Ok, i know im gunna sound REALLY stupid when i say this, but most of the decent bands that scream today, the screams are in tune. I have a live video of a Trivium gig, and one time he screams wonrg, and it doens't fit the song at all, then he gets it back together and it just slots right in there....simple. I agree, there is such thing as 'too much screaming' and that goes for any band, but with out screaming, their wouldn't be as much effectivness into the music today.

Thats my opinion, and i understand im going to get slated sooooo much now lol, but hey...each to their own.
