SOAD's new album's cover art

Quote

System of a Down's Mezmerize — the first half of their double album Mezmerize/Hypnotize — doesn't hit stores until May 17, but already there are plenty of details emerging about the LP.

The first single, "B.Y.O.B.," is making a splash on rock radio, and the band shot a combustible video for the song in Los Angeles last month. While rumors of a completed track listing for Mezmerize have been circulating online for days, only now has the band confirmed what's made the cut.

"B.Y.O.B" is one of the 11 songs (including the intro) that make up Mezmerize. There are two somewhat shout-outs to Tinseltown ("Old School Hollywood" and "Lost in Hollywood"), and other tracks seem to have taken System's penchant for creative titles to another level, such as "This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm on This Song." The band has also released the cover artwork for Mezmerize, which was painted by Vartan Malakian, father of guitarist Daron Malakian.

System have already revealed dates for a European tour in late May, and a spokesperson said a U.S. tour is in the planning stages, with a targeted August or September start date. Their only confirmed U.S. date so far, their Souls 2005 benefit concert, is scheduled for April 24 at the Universal Amphitheatre near Los Angeles.

The track list for System of a Down's Mezmerize, according to the band's spokesperson:

    * "Soldier Side - Intro"
    * "B.Y.O.B."
    * "Revenga"
    * "Cigaro"
    * "Radio/Video"
    * "This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm on This Song"
    * "Violent Pornography"
    * "Question!"
    * "Sad Statue"
    * "Old School Hollywood"
    * "Lost in Hollywood"

I don't know why, but I have a feeling this album is going to suck.

How much more stupid and random song titles can an album have?

woah bitchy living up to your name there. Try to avoid mindless flaming because there will be people on here who are much better at it than you and will rinse you until you cry. Plus if you keep doing it, I might be able to exercise my ban-stick for the first time :D

woah weird cover art.

but SOAD have been becoming more random through their career anyway. songs like I-E-A-I-A-I-O and 36 (46 seconds long).

They already have one of the new songs playing when you are at their website, "B.Y.O.B.". I deslike the lyrics and it's not exactly original or particularly catchy, but it's ok. I seriously hope there are better ones though.

OK, I've heard the entire album already and...it sucks. Big time. There's one or 2 good songs, "Question!" was quite a surprise, but most of the songs are senseless screaming and riffing with random lyrics and tempo changes. I kind of had the same impression at some points of "Steal This Album!" and "Mezmerize" is worst. I'm very dissapointed.

I've heard the album and I disagree completly. Can't say this early, but I think this could be their best. Every track is kick ass, and even Daron doing more of the singing adds another depth.
