twinzero- seen twice before, one of the best bands in the UK IMO, with a mate of mine on guitar and underground legend Karl Middleton on vocals. 20 minute epics, fantastic.

threemovements - another british band i had been wanting to see for a very long time as their EP is awesome, they played some new stuff too!

red sparowes - one of my favourite bands at the mo. epic instrumentals that letf the crowd standing stunned.. it actually felt wrong to clap.

and that was all on Easter Sunday at the Highbury Garage!
FLATLANDS - Vermuyden
"Flatlands stand up there as leaders of the pack" - Ninehertz
"Comparable to Capricorns and Neurosis in terms of quality and substance" - Load of Noise
"One of the most dense noise making behemoths in the UK" - Gin Tramp

AOTEA - Apocalypse in Transmetropolita
"Mike Patton's head on a bad acid trip" - Rock-a-Rolla
"Intensely eerie and brilliantly atmospheric. World Beaters" - Raw Nerve
"Brutally original. Scarily innoative. Obscurely Flawless!" - Gin Tramp

FROM THE SKY - Like Crystal in a World of glass
"Sheer bliss!" - The Silent Ballet
"Unadulterated instrumental epics" - Rock Sound

just got back from iron maiden at hammersmith and its definitely up there. the show and performance was incredible, the only thing i would complain about is not playing such classics as the prisoner, 22 acacia avenue and the flight of icarus among others.

the best ive been to is megadeth in february earlier this year, i went twice and i must say i enjoyed the 2nd more than the first. they are my second favourite band of all time and it was everything i had hoped for.

hopefully in october this year dream theater will be my best gig ever. or symmphony x when they tour after theyve finished writing their album.

i have probably seen 200+ big bands and a few local and underground bands and Accept at Sweden 2005 rank as my favourite, closely followed by Whitesnake, i was just blown away by both performance, destroys most bands that NME and Kerrang talk about and ive seen a few that they have gone about. God im just getting old. :)

there was no dance of death because it was the last date of the early days tour, they played loads of songs off the first 2 albums and a few of the best from notb and piece of mind. from memory and looking at my wmp library i think they played murders in the rue morgue, another life, the trooper, run to the hills, remember tomorrow, running free, phantom of the opera, sanctuary, prowler, wrathchild, drifter, notb, hallowed, where eagles dare, revelations, die with your boots on.

highlights of the night were where eagles dare (absolutely love this song), phantom of the opera, the trooper.

also at the end clive burr came on on a wheelchair and thanked us. that was pretty cool.

Rammstein

the preformance was amazing, they sound just as good live and the whole thing with blow torches attatched to the singers face and arm was to incredible. i have never experienced anything like it.

after they do their next album and finish touring that, they'll do a tour supporting the next few albums from powerslave to maybe seventh son or possibly fear of the dark. they may well play it then. but i personally hope they dont, i dont like the song much and its really long :P theres a lot more songs i'd like to hear.

do you think they'll tour the dark years from fear of the dark til virtual IX? i wouldn't mind it, but a lot of people hate their stuff from that period

i would doubt it, thats probably too recent to be doing a tour to 'remember' those days. i dont know which album it would go up to but i'd say the next few from powerslave will probably be the last tour of the kind. they may include fear of the dark and no prayer just so it nicely wraps up the first bruce dickinson era, although i'd rather just hear songs from powerslave, somewhere in time (my fave album) and seventh son.

it was like 15 years ago which is a lot longer than the entire lifespan of most other bands... why do you like somewhere in time most? its only got like wasted years and heaven can wait, and other albums have much better individual songs and consistency of quality

i like piece of mind (flight of icarus, where eagles dare, revelations and the trooper WOW), killers (twilight zone!), number of the beast (cos its awesome) and brave new world (out of the silent planet...) all about equally.

Metallica in the Point in Dublin in 1999 (I think)

3 Encores with Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey in the Jar" in the last one after the crowd had chanted for it for 10 mins. Eric Bell (original Lizzy guitarist on Whiskey) on stage playing guitar with them and they pointed out Phil Lynott's mother on the balcony.

Fantastic.

Muse were excellent as well when i seen them at a festival.

Radiohead. Because they're my favourite band, and they played Creep for the first time in about 6/7 years
"You and Wilson have my skills, Mr Hayden. In return, I received a taste for Radiohead and an encyclopedic knowledge of pornographic knock-knock jokes. Yes, I'd like to switch back if possible"

Megadeth at the Astoria in 2001 - wicked gig, when Al Pitrelli still played with them.

The Lawrence Arms at teh Verge - Right after Appathy and Exhaustion was released but before people started getting into them. The gig was downgraded from the Underworld to the Verge but ti was completely packed. Great atmosphere, brilliantly played, just generally wicked.

Explosions In The Sky last night are definately in my top 10. wow...

Four Tet was ace too once i got into it, which wasnt easy after explosions, he should've been the support IMO.

By far, the best live performance I've been to, is Brian Wilson and his band, on the "Smile" tour, last year in Portsmouth. Another show, earlier on this tour in London , was voted number 4, in a best ever gigs poll in Q magazine. Absolutely the best of all time, unsurpassed.
