[font=Arial Black] lately i've been making some observations on the world around me (mainly the U.s.)

one day as i was " 'talking trash' to the garbage around me" i heard about how Bush may reinstate the draft ( i know this is old news) and thought about all the riots and protests it would start. then i thought "good, givem' hell"

am i the only one who thinks that the country and the world are in trouble from this (the pres.) and many more things?

please respond here and tell me wut u think is wrong with the world.

Leave him alone, he's young and idealistic. His spirit is yet to be crushed by the cruel reality and cynicisms of the real world

I don't think the draft is going to happen - there would be far too much opposition to it, and its not really needed at the moment. If troops were deployed elsewhere, e.g. Iran, then perhaps - but for the moment I'd be surprised to see the draft happen

As for Bush, he's a fuckwit, but a funny one! But he has an extremely capable team around him that has recognised that after 9/11 America was feeling extremely vulnerable and suddenly aware that evil exists. From that point on, the team realised, what America needed isn't a president - it's a preacher

Hence why we see him making bold statements about 'defeating evil' and talking of 'crusades' and 'axis of evil' and 'evildoers'. By simplifying the ideas involved (making it black and white, we're definitely good and you're definitely bad) he's also simplified the debate. Now, it's acceptable and even 'American' to 'protect' yourself by committing ridiculous human rights abuses (e.g. Camp X-Ray and Abu Ghraib), declaring random wars which have little to do with the problem originally faced, and even stomping all over everything that tries to say 'whoa there easy boy', like the UN. Saying America shouldn't be doing this suddenly makes you a traitor and unpatriotic, brainwashed by the evil French!

Those things always used to be acceptable, then America had to come and interfere with WW1 and ruin the age of European imperialism. Ahhh, simpler times.

true, true. Don't mistake my critism of contemporary imperialism as excusing imperialism in the past, though.
