Well, it is a bit sad that someone would use it after gettting the last bag of whatever it was...

It may not be a real article but, now that you bring this subject up, the sign is used way too much nowadays! Example: I was watching a bit of the EMA's last week. Gorillaz was going to start their "performance" and suddenly duzens of morons rise their hands doing the symbol. What the fuck?!

Eh.

I also think it's besides the point that the article was fake - it brings up a good point on the subject

I odn't think it's too bad using it for SOME non-metal genres, like plain rock, etc, and i don't think Gorrilaz is such a bad thing

the article is poking fun at the people who actually go "yeh i'm a hardcore metaller, i'm allowed to use devil horns but you're not because you're not hardcore like me"

it's designed so that you can laugh at the extent to which it has been exaggerated not so that you agree with it

But to an extent, it does have a point, i think it does kind of taint it if it's used for mundane things, the same with any hand gesture, or word or phrase if they're over used

i'll be honest, i never saved up my devil horns for special occasions

if people want to use it if they see a hot girl fine, they're losers but it doesn't "devalue" the gesture at all

i don't think to myself, you bastards, i was saving mine for something special to happen and you just throw yours around like pennies

that'd be ridiculous

nor do I, but i thought about it when i opened this thread, and it does ruin it. While it may only be for buff women, or whatever now, it'll gradually get worse, moving into non-rocking things like pop concerts, etc

THEN where will we be?

i think its EXACTLY the point. yeah its obviously a metaller making a bit of a joke but the main point he's making is how the devil horns are used undeservingly all the time.

i thought it was pretty funny.

Quote

"one of the most serious affronts to metal's integrity since the rise of rap-metal in the late 1990s."

Quote

"Remember that many are outcasts and losers. To punish them further is to destroy the future of metal."

:P

Quote

the lengthy trial and eventual sentencing of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who was indicted in 2004 on charges of cutting his hair, pussing out on Napster, and contributing to the original motion-picture soundtrack of Mission: Impossible 2.

they forgot to add "for writing st. anger"

bollocks that's exactly the point tommy

the article was talking about people using it in everyday life

it is not being overused if people use it for the gorrillaz as they are still music. they aren't metal horns anyway because lennon used them first

i don't give a shit about the new meaning they were given by dio/gene simmons if you try to use that as a point you are just being hypocritical

this shows that Pan Satyros missed the point entirely

why do you have to turn everything into a debate? i dont actually care, i use the horns for minor things all the time.

yeh ok but you're generally lowering the tone of the light-hearted thread. 1. "its not real" 2. "PS, you're wrong" 3. "its not metal, john lennon invented it" (irrelevant).

1. i also pointed out that it was a funny article and by saying it wasn't real i was implying that people shouldn't take it seriously

2.Pan Satyros did miss the point

3. people can't complain that it's not being used properly for metal purposes (i.e. pan satyros) when it originally wasn't metal

so i wasn't really the one lowering the light hearted tone
