For $$$, what would you do...
  • $10,000,000 - if you accept this money, you die peacefully in your sleep on your 70th birthday, not a day longer
  • $5,000,000 - same as above, except you live to 75
  • $1,000,000 - same as above, living to 80
  • $100,000,000 - you die at age 100, but it'll be an unimaginably painful death, lasting an entire 48 hours of excruciating pain
  • for $7,500,000, your mate (husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend) will be kidnapped and held for a whole year in awful, solitary conditions, i.e. a filthy bed and only the most basic and small amounts of food. There's a guarantee there will be no physical or sexual abuse (i.e. no beating/rape etc), just solitary imprisonment in utter filth for a whole year. When that year is up, YOU are the rescuer and nobody ever finds out you gave them up in the first place or that this was related to you making the money, though you run the risk of severe recurring psychological trauma often caused by such a horrendous ordeal
:)

Tempted by 3. Woul you pay $4 million for 5 years extra life (whic h prob won't be as good at that age anyway)

some people may look at having other people clean you as a good thing, but then some people voted for B Bush - draw your own conclusions

I'd choose the second one. Wouldn't want to live that old. And being rich doesn't solve anything, unless you're in debt! I'd be happy living with average income. I also wouldn't find alot of things to buy that money with. Except if you were an evil genius.

you don't *have* to choose any of these, of course - it's a yes i would/no i wouldn't sort of thing

i have to say, nobody's mentioned #4, but I'm not so certain I wouldn't go for that... why are you guys not keen on it?

there's no way I could do #5

#2 I certainly would, because although I'd probably live a bit longer (not obese, no significant family history of inherited disease) the years I spend before I die could be a lot better with the extra $5million - probably worth sacrificing two to three years of senility, rheumatisms, dependence on the state and on my family, etc

that said, when I get to that sort of age, I'd probably wish I'd never accepted that. there's also the fact that once you accept, you'd know when you're going to die... not cool

I think the thought of being in pain it too much. I wouldn't want to be for one.

Well we hate you

I think no1's really gone for 4 firstly because 100 is excessively old, and 100 mil is way too much money - you don't need that much. Also, a long REALLY painful death? Problem is, it's hard to imagine that. How painful is painful? You've got nothing to compare it to really

a close call between 1 and 2

i'd go for 2 as i'd get to live an extra 5 years and £5,000,000 is enough for me

i'd probably actually go for 3. $1,000,000 would be more than enough to buy most things i want and then some.

But it wouldn't set you for life would it? A decent semi detatched house nowadays costs like £350 thou, which is about 7/10 of ur money gone (it's in dollars not pounds)

but stick it in a savings account and you could probably live off the interest.
