Why is this even an issue? How can you guys possibly condone something as horrific as torture?
I mean fuck, not only has the United States redefined torture so that they don't get in shit for it anymore, but the US has some of the worst terrorists on the planet! What if a soldier from your country was being tortured for information? For where the next bombs were going to be dropped? Why would that be any different? Where do we get the right to decide what is acceptable, and then go against it?
Furthermore, studies have shown that information received during intense torture is something like 90% false. People will say anything to make the pain stop. Torture is pointless, it isn't effective, and so it is just a dirty way of excusing yourself of hurting someone.

there's an example of 2 brazilians who were tortured until they confessed to raping a 9 y/o girl, they were put in prison for 25 year. and deservedly so, until it was found out that they hadn't actually been the ones who raped her, they were let free but one of them had suffered brain damage as a result of the torture.
