Another thing is that if you allow homosexuals to get married you're gonna have to open the flood gates. For years homosexuals have complained about not having equal rights. They've complained and protested for years until they finally got their way. With that said, what about a farmer who wants to marry his goat? Shouldn't he be free to marry it if he wishes? What about people who want to marry their relatives? Shouldn't they then be allowed to marry their sisters or cousins, etc.... if equallity is being sought? Shouldn't they be allowed to, if homosexuals are allowed to?

and i don't think that farmers will suddenly be thinking, hey i bet i could marry my goat, there is nothing for them to gain from being partnered to a goat whereas in civil partnerships both parties are given the extra security from the other

Marriage isn't always about social benefits....that goat analogy I made was just to say, if someone has another unusual reunion going on and he feels that he and his partner (whatever gender or species it may be) may want to spend their lives together then there's really no stopping them if two people of the same gender are allowed to marry. I was refering to marriage altogether, not marriage based on social benefits.
Another thing, maybe in the UK cousins are allowed to marry but they aren't where I'm from. I was posting based on laws in my country.

You say the flood gates will open? I disagree. What other major sections of the populatoin would want to marry? You say people would want to marry, fr example their own brother/sister. That won't happen. 1 in 10 ppl are gay. Far, FAR less want to get off with a sibling (except in the deep soutm or so i've heard). Also, it would mean inbreeding, which is kinda wrong. Same goes for marrying goats, sheep, cows, etc. Not that many people want to do it, so i doubt 'flod gates' would be opened.
I think gay couples should be allowed to marry in this sense (although religous marriage is entirely different)

What Curtis just said was right, though I think their would probably be full marrage legallised within a few years. There are a lot of gay people in the UK that are Christian, and this is the 21st centuary, many of the religous beliefs and teachings in the Bible people don't live by and agree with today, so why not this?

And there's a difference between eating a little bit extra cake and having a whole lifestyle against the word of god.
