favourite non-rock is probably Animal Collective, followed by Four Tet.
"Flatlands stand up there as leaders of the pack" - Ninehertz
"Comparable to Capricorns and Neurosis in terms of quality and substance" - Load of Noise
"One of the most dense noise making behemoths in the UK" - Gin Tramp
AOTEA - Apocalypse in Transmetropolita
"Mike Patton's head on a bad acid trip" - Rock-a-Rolla
"Intensely eerie and brilliantly atmospheric. World Beaters" - Raw Nerve
"Brutally original. Scarily innoative. Obscurely Flawless!" - Gin Tramp
FROM THE SKY - Like Crystal in a World of glass
"Sheer bliss!" - The Silent Ballet
"Unadulterated instrumental epics" - Rock Sound

in my top 100 played songs, the following i wouldn't classify as rock...
slow jamz - twista
hoodie - lady sovereign
everytime - britney spears
tears and rain - james blunt
the show - girls aloud
maybe i'm amazed - jem
dice - finley quay
neverending story - limahl
thugs mansion - tupac
sway - bic runga
and then there's loads of indie stuff like razorlight, hard-fi, killers, interpol, postal service, nine black alps, babyshambles (killimangiro - its a great song. unlike everything else they've done). but i count that as rock.
my favourite non-rock band is probably girls aloud though. i love the way they manage to include lyrics like 'hung around the kitchen in my underwear' and 'check out my negligé' and 'come taste my kisses in the night'. they're hilarious. they rock.

so so good. overall i'm not a big fan of 80s pop though.
i listen to a fair bit of tupac, eminem, cypress hill, bit of fiddy, gym class heroes, aesop rock, benefit, kanye west...
there are times when rock music just doesn't suit your mood/activity.
e.g. its better to listen to dance/trance/hip hop in the gym. i like a bit of aqua, i monster, fragma, chemical brothers...

Woah, no wonder you don't think your favourite bands are the best.

those songs make music lovers puke
i will say no more on the matter until I see fit, rather like the lord of the manor throwing scraps to the uneducated peasants.now scurry away to your inadequate brothels of lower learning. for you cease to amuse me
