I watch a lot of The Shield. In my opinion it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It is by far an away the best thing Five (the newest terrestrial channel here in the UK) has ever shown. It's set in the black and mexican ghettos of the american West Coast. It follows the efforts of the local cops trying to deal with sets it apart is that a lot of these cops are crooked, especially the main character. I definitely recommend it

I don't watch as much TV as I used to, but Las Vegas and Desperate Housewives can also hold my attention. Family Guy and Little Britain are great

Fave Series of all time: Band of Brothers

what do you guys enjoy watching?

We all know family guy is the best, and if you don't it's because you haven't watched it, it if you haven't watched it you're an idiot

The apprentice, the james guy lived opposite me. I only actually saw 2 episodes of it, but they were quality.

Family Guy is very funny...however it is worth pointing out that a lot of the humour comes from totally contrived situations, which IMHO detracts from the quality somewhat...

you what? it's a cartoon! the 'contrived situations' just add to the randomness of the humour - brilliant!

I just downloaded the first episode of the new series - absolutely BRILLIANT. They punish Fox for cancelling them in a BIG way

How is the fact that the humour is derived from contrived situations any different from any other sitcom?? Surely it is allowed to be MORE contrived, given that it's a cartoon...

My point is that something like the Simpsons relies on the plot to set up funny situations, whereas some of the time in Family Guy something happens randomly for no apparent reason (even if it is very funny...)

(btw please don't flame me for saying that its unrealistic cos that's not what I'm saying...)

You're sort of missing the point of the humour. The randomness is what makes it so much funnier. And it does happen sort of for a reason and because the links are so tenuous that makes it even funnier.

If your opinions are shit and you can't back them up in any way shape or form expect to get flamed is what i say.

Lol, you say I can't back up my opinions...however, by agreeing that the humour is random and tenuously linked you've just backed up my argument...

imo, being random doesn't necessarily make it funnier, you just end up laughing because it's like *wtf was that about*?

btw I love Family Guy, it's fucking hilarious - but I don't think it's as clever as some other shows (specifically Futurama...)

I watch Futurama (my fav), Smallville, Family Guy
and a bit of South Park

By the way, I agree completley with sexual harressment panda, and I think Family Guy is one of the greatest things on Earth. The fact it's an only random comedy show makes it IMO not qualify for the top spot in my books. I mean, the story is based on getting the jokes in. Futurama on the other hand is just genius writing, the story comes first, with some hilarious characters put in to amuse. Also, it has rimance, action, humour, suspense, and can sometimes make you sad (When Fry "dies").

Right did you actually watch the last series of futurama. It was shit. VERY shit. The writing is not genius at all because they have limitless avenues to explore because if they ever get stuck they can just make some shit up because its in the future. And its always bloody obvious what is going to happen. Yes it is funny but not genius.

I don't think Family Guy is the best programme on TV or anything but it is better than futurama easily. The humous is a lot more adult and more observational making cutting commentaries on life and taking inspiration from everywhere combining it with excellent satire.

And please. I am so offended by the fact that you say I can't spell. It's upsetting it really is. Who the fuck are you my English Grammer teacher.

And before some smart arsed dick head points out that Grammar is spelt wrong I fucking know you utter tit, its called irony.

I am now expecting you to point out every other spelling mistake in this post but please don't. Use your time more efficiently. Cancer still needs a cure.

Why does everyone watch cartoons..? Yes, I find The Simpsons and Futurama very funny, but it's more.. slapstick shall I say, as compared to the likes of other programmes floating around.

I'd rather watch the comedy on BBC3, for example.. High Spirits With Shirley Ghostman, Ideal, Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps.. and other comedies shown on UK G2 etc. I suppose I have more of a dry sense on humour than other people, but it's shameful to see no one favours the likes of Two Pints etc! *tsk tsk* Shame on you..

I do like Two Pints but I prefer other BBC3 regulars like Little Britain. At the moment, the only series that i'm really watching are Desperate Housewives and Coupling, plus the occasional CSI. Oh, and i've been watching a lot of the poker and the snooker recently, not really series but you know...
