Just wondering what people here use to play their digital music collection? I was prompted to ask by the release today of iTunes 4.8

On my PC it's usually iTunes; although it's not a program i particularly like, being able to listen to music from other people's computers on the network is great. For doing more advanced stuff with my music, I use J River Media Center - a very powerful and easy to use program that does stuff like rename my files and organise them into folders according to artist or album or whatever. It also plays videos, calculates BPM, etc.

I take my music with me on an iRiver H120; 20gb, FM radio, microphone, etc. Ugly and awkward to use, but very well featured and powerful. Awesome battery life.

What about you guys and girls?

Itunes, but an older version that gets around the whole 5 people per day malarkey that completely fucks up the sharing facility. Mini ipod, although i haven't bothered to update it in a while because i'm too lazy.

Windows Media Player - I like being able to queue up songs in an instant playlist much more easily than with iTunes, which is only good for rinsing music off the network....tbh though I usually just get myTunes, download the music and then use Media Player...

windows media player for everything - recording cds, playing files, watching movies, dvds. dont download much.

wen im away from my computer i use my beloved mp3 player, my iriver H320. its rather fat but plays all types of files i'll ever need, as well as videos and being able to store pictures direct from your camera. i dont use that feature currently as i dont have a digital camera. it also has fm radio and can record music either on the internal or an external microphone (plugged in). ive used the record feature for a few gigs in the past as well as some guitar lessons.. its really useful because u can transfer it straight onto your computer as an mp3 file. and it has immense battery life compared to ipods.
the only things i would change are the start-up loading time and tiny gaps between songs during playback. but those are just minor things.

i carry a phonograph around with me; it's fine in winter but this time of year the beeswax drums keep melting and i can only carry like 2 songs with me at a time.

I also have a tin can with a piece of string tied to it which goes to another tin can which i put in various artist's house. Problem is, i can only listen within a 20m radius, and they're not always singing...
