so im a drummer myself, and i figure if im going to post this somewhere, it might as well be in the metal forum, where people are likely to give a flying crap about a good drummer. so, who is the best drummer in the universe, ever? i dont mean the fastest, or the funkiest, or the most innovative, or the most influencial, i mean the best. just write what you think.

my top choices have to be danny carey from tool, jimmy chamberlain from smashing pumpkins, and nick barker from dimmu borgir.

Isn't there already one of these? I vote Jordan Mancino of As I Lay Dying. Smashing Pumpkins and Tool are metal? I missed the memo!

eh i did a search for drummer and didnt find anything like this. tru smashing pumpkins arent metal and tool is of indeterminate genre, but their drummers still rock. i just want to know what metalheads think about drummers in general. maybe there are some nonmetal bands out there with fncking brutal drumming too. i dunno

Mike Portnoy and Tomas Haake are polyrhythmic machines.

If you're a speed freak and you like some flying feet to go with your metal you need look no further than maybe Ryan Thomas from "As Blood Runs Black"

Then of course if you're looking for a good technique teacher, I'd start by youtubing the name Chris Adler, he plays for Lamb Of God and his tutorials are pretty sweet, especially his foot rolling technique for double bass.

there is one immense drummer, I can see his videos in my head but remembering his name comes as an almost impossible task to me, sorry.

Technically, but not really. Joey does the drumming on record, they have two other idiots that smash things together at concerts.

Fuck Joey... he's not talented. His solos suck. All he does is spin... Fuck that this is talent not looks you fuck.

Zeppelin isn't metal. I don't have much against them, but that doesn't make them metal.

Jon Rice - Job For A Cowboy
Jason Costa - All That Remains
Daniel Erlandsson - Arch Enemy

I like those guys.

Joey is an undenialbly good drummer but he seriously need to get the hell out of slipknot cause they suck. I personally like jordan mancino, charlie benante, danny carey, and the dude from meshuggah.
