Best Musical Town Ever

Which town do you think has produced the most and greatest musical talent over the years. I'm obviously going to say Manchester simply for the indie revolution of the late 80s early 90s. The amount of bands it has produced are astounding.
As well as the good ones we also have to lay claim to some shockers such as Mick Hucknall and Take That but i suppose you cant have everything can you?

hm..well, I 'm not sure for towns, ya know, but generally speaking lots of great rock bands are straight form UK, such as Beatles, stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd,....blah, blah, blah....

Care to elaborate on that? What is so good about Seattle for music? Anyone?

alabama is a state, not a town. lynyrd skynyrd are mostly shit, so you = fail. I couldn't name the best musical town, because I couldn't give a flying fuck where bands come from when I listen to them and so I wouldn't be able to pick up if they all came from the same place or not. That said, Oxford has produced Radiohead and Supergrass, which is pretty good going...

For me it's definetly Gothenburg, Sweden. Most of my favourite bands come from there: In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, The Haunted, Arch Enemy, Darkane, and loads of other great bands.

I was wondering how long it'd take LLR to start a topic like this
"You and Wilson have my skills, Mr Hayden. In return, I received a taste for Radiohead and an encyclopedic knowledge of pornographic knock-knock jokes. Yes, I'd like to switch back if possible"

I don't think producing two bands of supreme mediocrity make it a candidate for the best musical town ever.
