[Rhadamantys]

Origin

Year 2005, last days of the second quarter. It’s summer and extremely hot. Umut Küçüker and Bora Gürçay, played together before, come up with the idea of forming a group again while they’re playing in a little room of a little studio. They put an ad on the internet in search of group members right away and thus meet Engin Böke. They decide that Engin is going to be the other guitarist of the group and this lays the foundations of Rhadamantys –though this name doesn’t even exist then.
Foundation

Till the end of the last quarter that year, the two guitarists and the drummer work on some composition practices and cover songs. But soon the absence of a bassist is felt. At first, Bora considers playing the bass himself but then it is agreed to have another bassist in the group. And with the participation of Burak, the group’s foundation is now completed. Soon after the list of cover songs expands, the group focuses on heavy metal music and this makes its presence felt in the compositions before long.
Time To Take The Stage

Year 2006, early days. The group is not satisfied playing to the empty walls of studios anymore thus they talk to a manager to work for them (a close friend of Burak) and make their first appearance at Nedjima Bar in Ankara.
Rain Falls and I Shed a Tear

The first song they play on the stage is their own song, “Rain Falls and I Shed a Tear”, which is admired by the audience from the very first day. The group now gains self confidence and so works on improving themselves and presenting their show on the stage.
The Discovery of ‘Rhadamantys’

After their first appearance, the group eventually realizes that they need a name and chooses the name ‘Rhadamantys’. It is the name of Zeus’ son and the judge of the dead in the lower world in Greek mythology. But the name is quite hard to remember.
The Breakaway

Year 2007. Splitting with their bassist Burak, the group enters a recovery process but then falters as market falls and thus is on the verge of breaking up. As a result of all these unpleasant circumstances, the group’s members are dispirited.
The Tall Guy

However, Anıl Ertuğrul replies the ad that Engin Böke puts on the internet and as of their first studio practice together, he becomes a member of Rhadamantys. And hereby this means the rebirth,the revival of Rhadamantys. After these, the group signs agreements with Root Bar and Yolcu In Rock and begins performing weekly in these places. Year 2008, early days. All group members are in agreement that they need a record of a song of their own. And just in these days, they meet their present manager Hüseyin Aydın and so he becomes Rhadamantys’ (a contracted group now) official manager. In These Endless Wars – Rhadamantys Starting to Attract Attention If we are going to talk about a third rebirth of Rhadamantys, then this will surely be the demo record of the song ‘In These Endless Wars’. After a one-month recording process, the group presents their demo records to their audience. These records include their first song ‘Rain Falls And I Shed A Tear’and their subsequent songs ‘In These Endless Wars’, ‘Ask To The Life’ and ‘Mag Kommen Was Will’; and as a result of these the name ‘Rhadamantys’ is heard of more and more each day in Ankara (Of course this is another achievement in the sense that the name Rhadamantys is hard to remember!) Previously composed ‘Pain Inside’ and ‘First Life’ are left over to be recorded later.
Papers, Interviews and Concerts

Out of the success of the record ‘In These Endless Wars’, in which Ataturk’s voice record takes part, the group attracts great attention from papers and magazines in the media. Headlines like “Metal Music Set Hands to Epics”, “Epics Are Kept Alive In Heavy Metal Melodies” take place in many internet sites and papers. They enter such a busy period that they run from this concert to that even before their sweat dries!
2008, A Slowdown

Towards the end of 2008, they end their bar performances and discontinue their concerts for a while. But of course this doesn’t mean that they stop playing, on the contrary this gives them a chance to shut themselves up in studio, to expand their repertory and to compose new songs as well.
Nowadays

Still performing in various places, the group will continue writing this story with their future projects. Still Bora and Engin play the guitar, Anıl plays the bass and Umut plays the drums.
