origin of symmetry is the best album if you compare them on equal footing, but showbiz grabbed my attention more when it came out because Muse's sound and songwriting was unlike anything else at the time.

its strange that you say that, cos everyone dismissed them as radiohead copyists when showbiz came out...

Muscle Museum is a good tune, as are several songs on Showbiz; however you can't really rate it higher than Origin of Symmetry, which has Plug in Baby, Feeling Good and Newborn on it, amongst others!

i thought that was completely unfair. no-one can plagiarise JS Bach and Mozart with quite as much panache as Matt Bellamy. and his falsetto is way more convincing than Thom Yorke's.

origin of symmetry because it has all my favourite muse songs on it

showbiz is more unrefined muse-ish

absolution in my opinion is going a bit far over to the matt bellamy being a pretentious twat side....even though he is a hero of modern music

Origin of Symmetry, while less refined as an album as a whole, is generally better because Matt Bellamy's head wasn't quite so far up his own arse as it is now. In fact, I'm going to listen to it now.

I agree with Bob, OoS definately. It has so many great tracks, including my favourite - citizen erased. Absolution is still a great album, but has Matt Bellamy up himself, and Showbiz, although good, doesn't have as many killerr tracks

Origin has to be one of my favourite albums ever, Ive never tierd of it at all, its just genious to say the least. They managed to find "their" sound completely on that album and I don't think they will ever beat it. I don't think radiohead are even that much like muse.

I think it's more a case of muse sounding like radiohead, and it's probably more of a link with radiohead's rockier stuff

Why does everyone automatically dismiss Hullaballoo? Ok, I wouldn't say it's one of the best, but the first CD is an album in its own right that at least deserves to loose in this poll than not appear. I really can't choose though, I love them all almost equally.

hullaballoo isnt a studio album, its a collection of b-sides and live tracks.

my favourite is origin of symmetry. tracks like micro cuts and new born are genius.

The first CD on Hullaballo contains like no live tracks. All seperate songs.

1. Forced In
2. Shrinking Universe
3. Recess
4. Yes Please
5. Map Of Your Head
6. Nature 1
7. Shine Acoustic
8. Ashamed
9. The Gallery

And if they're meant to be B-sides, they're fucking awesome B-sides.

Havent listened to Muse for ages!

Origin was always my favourite though.. Microcuts, Bliss and Screenager.

The b-side CD of Hulaballoo is also awesome though they missed off some of my favourite B-sides.. Spiral static, did you really need this, and Con-science

i was wondering when it would get a mention, surely it's still classed as an *album* ..?

I'm thinking Origin too though!
