Sounds good
"You and Wilson have my skills, Mr Hayden. In return, I received a taste for Radiohead and an encyclopedic knowledge of pornographic knock-knock jokes. Yes, I'd like to switch back if possible"

How legal is this? On the grounds that we've already had Invision breathing down our necks we need to watch our asses... Normally even free downloads of stuff have distribution restrictions and stuff like that which would put us on dubious legal ground...

Any problems with the forums? email me at mike@rockforums.net

I must admit, it's something i've been considering for a while, and i've found a few ways it could be done and integrated with the site. I see it as an almost certainty for the future, if the other guys on the team are ok with it. Certainly once we start hosting some other bands' forums it would make sense to host preview clips of their songs, too.
I don't think we should be streamcasting songs we don't have the permission for.
Disadvantages: it's quite a lot of work to get running, it's quite a lot of work getting new songs for it, and it'll use up bandwidth (which we pay for) like a BITCH. So we might have to restrict large sections of the jukebox (e.g. archives of songs added over a week ago) to Pro Members, and up the Pro Membership fee...
But yes, it's a good idea, definitely. One step at a time though - we're not even on Google properly yet!
I've been keeping my eye on a few jukebox projects and when i see one which i think is suitable, we can make a decision as to whether we want it or not

I know there's a hack for vbulletin for this
not too sure about IPB. As for the legal grounds, well aren't Internet radio stations allowed to stream copyrighted content? You are doing just about the same thing. Wimpy is a really good script, might be hard but i'm sure it can be integrated into ipb (wait for 2.1)

yea, IPB 2.1 is getting close now so I'd rather not waste too much time doing any more major mods now and find they need redoing in a few weeks time. Putting in a jukebox will also probably need hosting with a bigger bandwidth allocation so we need to be generating more money from advertising before we can afford the bigger packages
