does anyone here find Bono's humanitarian crusade a bit... tiresome? Especially his alliance with New Labour. I guess it's a partnership that makes sense, because he gets matey with people in power, i.e. in a position to change things, and New Labour can style itself as great humanitarians, AND associate themselves with a rock icon (they did the same with Oasis, more or less, in 1997 when they were trying to get elected)

I mean, credit to the man, he wants to make things better, etc. But there are too many secondary interests to his actions for my liking. If anything, it smacks of trying to promote his career by grabbing headline.

I think Bono is a pretencious prick, and would say it to his face (then run and cower somewhere)

Yeah, The Edge would probably come and kick your arse. I mean, he looks like a pretty tough guy.

Well, he didn't get the World Bank job - thanks fuck for that - Wolfowitz did, the top neocon in Washington.

But now he's launching into fashion - WHAT THE FUCK???

Quote

U2’s Bono has revealed that Pope John Paul II once tried on his famous sunglasses.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, Bono said: "I took (his blue 'Fly' shades) off in case I was causing some offence. When I was introduced to him he was still staring at them."

"I offered them to him as a gift in return for the rosary he had just given me. Not only did he put them on, he smiled the wickedest grin you could ever imagine."

"Flashbulbs popped, and I thought: "Wow! The Drop the Debt campaign will have the Pope in my glasses on the front page of every newspaper… it seems his courtiers did not have the same sense of humour."

speechless.

he's such a prick than he even annoys himself, as well as every other living thing:

Quote

Bono has confessed that he often gets tired of his own preaching.

The U2 star has recognised that some fans are becoming tired of his lectures, but insists that he is "representing the poorest and most vulnerable people" against politicians.

"I'm sick of Bono. It's like, 'Oh man, shut up.' But there it is," the singer told the Daily Star.

"I have no fear of politicians. I'm throwing a punch and the fist belongs to people who can't be in the room, whose rage, whose anger and whose hurt I represent."
