Sorry i can't help you. not really a fan myself. I'm sure there will be some people who can. Might be worth searching some discography sites for punk music?

well there's the obvious older punk bands like the sex pistols and the undertones, then onto more modern stuff like green day, offspring, rancid.
hope that helps!

me first and the gimme gimme's aren't really punk...they're fat mike's joke cover band.

but my contribution is: the first iron maiden album's cover was designed for a punk band.

hmmm...i don't think so.

the eddie seen on the first iron maiden cover was ACTUALLY taken from Steve Harris's original mask design, which went onto the bands logo in 1975 whilst they were doing the pub and club circuits.

eddie actually appeared first on the single cover of 'running free' as a shadowy figure bearing a broken bottle in an alleyway.

the first iron maiden cover was then developed from this image...

eddies image and style was designed to reflect the look of the late 1970's/ early 1980's rocker.

what you've claimed as the truth is nothing more than an urban legend that punks wish was true...

i thank you!

sorry to break it to you but it is true...the guy who does the maiden cover did it with a punk band in mind. harris saw it and thought 'that's eddie'. its both in their autobiography and an interview i've got with them. the original mask design was just a ceramic mask of his face with ketchup on the mouth. there wasn't really an original mock-up as such, just some piss-take prop for shows which became a proper mascot after they saw and loved the artwork the used on the 1st album

Don't apologise mate I know your wrong.

Have you actually seen the mask close up, cause I have. The crap prop you refer to is actually a mould which was designed to look like the death mask or face of a corpse. The designer of the figure we know as Eddie took inspiration from the already existing mascot and developed the idea for Iron Maiden. The guy had designed alot of album covers for punk bands but the Iron Maiden mascot was not a creation for the punk world.
It's in their autobiography and is the answer I got from Steve Harris when I asked him, when he came to the Pit club in Brighton.

End Off.

no mate, just no. that original head was a mould of someone's face, not a corpse. it bears no resemblance to eddie as we know and love him today. they just picked out the artwork, which was coincidentally what they were looking for. derek riggs doesnt normally do metal artwork. he did it by accident. i find it hard to believe that if you met steve harris you'd ask him to settle a debate that had yet to occur. exactly how did you phrase the question, may i ask? 'hey steve, love the band. listen, tell me, was the original album cover specifically designed on the spec of the band, or was it a random cover you picked out?'

Yeah, i don't see how people can call blink punk - they're far closer to the like of busted than they are to the sex pistols, etc

See those are the sort of bands i consider punk. I would not class Greenday, etc as punk, as they are nothing liek them. Punk has changed so much from the original
