not heard anything. what does everyone think of chilis? i think they've got some good tunes but frusciante has kinda twisted the band so its not so funksome. their newer stuff is alright but not as cool as, say, blood sugar sex magik, or even californication.

Im not keen on anything of theirs really. The old stuff was at least original.. new stuff just bores me.

Not that keen on them, they've made a couple of quite good songs, but it took 20 years to make their best song, By The Way ,commercial and main stream but I couldn't give a shit.

They've lost their funkiness realy, although they're still a fairly solid band

Some of their songs are great, in particular Under The Bridge. The rest of their stuff, funky or not, I find pretty average. It seems to me they've often been too lazy to write a good song, and gone with very simple and un-catchy stuff. I'm definitely in the minority that finds Suck My Kiss pretty shite.

Not a big fan, though Californication has a few good tunes

I wasn't aware that they were making a new album though

you know their first album was comissioned on the basis of how cool they were live. they didn't have a single proper song. their live set consisted of a 25-minute jam called 'out in LA' that was different every time they played and had improvised lyrics. chilis were the epitomy of rock n roll - they didnt really do much music, just drugs and chicks (check out the lyrics to songs like sir psycho sexy and suck my kiss for evidence)

Agree with Helen. For the first 2 or 3 albums, they wre original at least.

Under the Bridge is way overrated, Californication is better but still not amazing, I think the RHCPs are well overrated. But then, I don't listen to lyrics and people are always telling me that RHCP have amazing lyrics, so maybe I'm missing something.

wow, if only we had had a thjread about RHCP being overrated..... (which they are)

I used to have BSSM, and it was my favourite. The chillis are still a good band, still releasing the odd gem lihe higer ground

thanks for the info on the new album but neways i think that some of the songs off the new stuff is too mainstream but if u listen to it all some of it is quite good and i agree with everyone thats said that theyre better stuff wus bfore frusciante left which would include blood sugar sex majik including under the bridge and then the guitar with navarro was great even tho the lyrics werent the best like walkabout and then the next song on there is one of the best ever tearjerker and my friends but yes the new stuff is just a little to mainstream and not funk rock nemore and yes all they were in for in the begining wuz girls and drugs with both kiedis and frusciante havin been in rehab for marijuana. but oh well thanks for the info keep it rolling in tho

Didn't one of the prince's do that?

Thing is with cannabis, it's a mental addiction, not a physical one, so surely a shrink would be better
