For the first time in 14 years, the Pixies are going to release a new album. This announcement follows the band's successful reunion tour, playing at major summer festivals like the Carling Reading & Leeds festivals as well as regular venues worldwide.

Pixies rocker Frank Black, whose solo album 'Honeycomb' is expected later this month, made the announcement in an interview with UK tabloid newspaper, 'The Sun'. He insists the decision to record a new album wasn't motivated by opportunism: "We have been discussing recording a new album lately. As happy as we are with the success of the reunion tour, we really want to make a record for the right reasons, whether it is successful commercially or not.

"We would be satisfied if it played like our other records, never chart-topping but always in print."

I don't really rate the pixies that highly, even though everyone else seems to love them
"You and Wilson have my skills, Mr Hayden. In return, I received a taste for Radiohead and an encyclopedic knowledge of pornographic knock-knock jokes. Yes, I'd like to switch back if possible"

i must say I didn't really like 'surfer rosa' - I first came across the Pixies when I heard 'where is my mind' at the end of Fight Club, and didn't like much of the rest of the stuff by them that I looked into after that

even so, it'll be interesting to see what their next album will be like - they've been off the scene for fucking ages!
