i used to be really into them, now i find them a bit too 'opera' for my liking - some tunes, especially off Origin of Symmetry, will never lose their appeal for me. They're probably the band that really got me listening to rock music

Rumour is, they'll be releasing a new album later this year, or in 2006

bradley... why ya go off them? the tunes like time is running out and hysteria are timeless classics for Muse, and within reason they are very unique band with lots to say for themselves.

When they performed in paris for Live 8.. they didnt just involve the crowd, or perform for them, they had the crowd.. wrapped!

eh tommy... yeh matt bellamy and dom howard had very severe parts of depression in their lives. It was luckily at differnet times but matt was clinically depressed and dom was near enough.

lol! if ya want anymore info about muse... FIXED PENALTY has it all =)

it's not so much went off them, as moved on

once you get onto stuff like Queens Of The Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, etc, and start exploring more unknown bands which suit your music tastes better, it's very hard to go back to music like Muse, no matter how good you once thought it was!

you're right about the french crowd. I think they're the biggest rock band in france at the moment, and have been for quite a few years

Muse were partly responsible for getting me into rock music, though i find them far too poppy now, and i dont like Absolution at all.

They are good live performers though. managed to get in the middle of the front row at the NEC in 04 and it was cool.

Muse was one of the first proper rock bands that i listened to in showbiz + muscle museum, but have stayed with me. Even though my taste has 'moved on' from some of the earlier bands, and i have listened to led zep, other genres, etc, they're still definately in my top 5

why? Absolution was a definite step towards pop-rock, the classical elements were over-used, and the more 'rock' songs were pretty poor in comparison to OOS. Id like to know why you think otherwise....

hi helen.. basically absolution.. everybody loves most of the songs on there.. with that album ALONE they have had more then 3 number one hits... with OOS and Showbiz.. there has only been a couple now imho (in my humble opinion) i think that absolution is the best.. i was only questioning why you thought that the others were better....

As many people here will tell you, the number of no1s does not translate as to how good the album is. The only reason absolution did so well is because it was marketed and advertised so much more. I remember them appearing at an award show, playing time is running out, and cat deely referring to them as a 'new, up-and-coming band', which, as i'm sure u know is a load of bull shit

Helen is right to say absolution was a step towards pop-rock, as it obviously was, and it was also a step towards matt bellamy's meglomanic opinion of himself

exactly, if number ones showed quality then Westlife would be like one of the best in the world, and we all know thats a load of shite. Good technicality is often inversely proprtional to popularity.

TIRO turned them into a pop band. of course they were gonna sell more CDs, but it doesnt mean the music is better. In fact.. its very simplistic and pretty crap compared to OOS.

everybody loves most of the songs on there

errm.. apart from almost all long term muse fans. most despise it actually.

i wouldn't say inversely proportional but talent isn't always directly linked to popularity
